Henry County Marching Invitational
Saturday, october 7, 2017
patriot stadium, paris, tennessee
Band Information:
Eligibility:
Any marching band or performing ensemble comprised of school-age (K-12) students is welcome to register to perform at HCMI, schedule permitting. Participating bands receive written and taped comments from the adjudicators, a video of their performance, official scores and are eligible to receive any awards earned.
Show Style:
The HCMI Committee welcomes bands performing all marching styles. Adjudication is based on musical aspects (tone quality, intonation, balance, blend, etc.), visual aspects (posture, interval, equipment carriage, etc.), and general effect (creativity, entertainment value, enthusiasm) that should be evident regardless of the chosen repertoire.
Field Requirements:
Each band should prepare a coordinated musical/visual show that is suitable for performance on a 100-yard football field and oriented toward one sideline. The band must be able to enter the field, setup, perform, and completely exit the field in fifteen (15) minutes.
Amplification and Power:
Amplification for individual soloists, small ensembles, or narrators is permitted, but full band amplification is not allowed. A power extension cable will be available for all performing units. The cable will be clearly located on the front sideline. It is advised to have a back up generator or battery in case of emergency.
Recorded Music:
Recorded music is permitted as part of a pre-show. Once the band has been announced and adjudication commences, all music must be performed live. Please make a note in your registration if you plan to have a pre-show that requires a special script or instructions.
Oversized Equipment and Props:
Large pieces of equipment, or "props" such as stages, platforms and backdrops, are permitted. Special instructions are communicated to the bands in the Directors Guide issued prior to the contest. The use of pyrotechnics (anything with fire) is strictly prohibited.
